Baluchi's is a chain of Indian restaurants scattered throughout the city. Featuring a wide selection of traditional Indian dishes such as Rogan Josh and Tikka Masala, there's something here for everyone, including a vegetarian menu for those with special dietary concerns. Baluchi's features a selection of Tandoori breads to accompany each meal, as well as a beverage menu including the traditional yogurt drink known as Lassi. Delivery and takeaway are available in addition to dining in.
The menu at Baluchi's is fantastic, with a number of kebab appetizers to start you off. The vindaloo dishes are hot and spicy, requiring a considerable amount of nan bread and raita to help put out the fire, and the cardamum sauce in the lamb rogan josh is fragrant and delicious. And, unlike a number of restaurants today, the vegetarian menu isn't just tacked on at the end - a dozen entrees as well as a number of the appetizers are meat-free. A selection of biryanis featuring basmati rice rounds out the menu.
Unfortunately, due to the varying ownership of the various franchises, dining at Baluchi's can be hit and miss. Some of the restaurants are busier than others, resulting in a more stilted, rushed atmosphere that isn't conducive to really enjoying a meal. Likewise, delivery can be a hit and miss affair; you're best off picking it up yourself for fastest service. But the food is fantastic, and the price is hard to beat - especially on weekdays, when lunch is 50% off.
